A great honor

Tonight my Trinks was honored at the Blue Rocks game. She and a hundred other students from various local elementary schools took the field and proudly stated their name and school. Trinks went with just her "real" first name. No nickname, no last name. Kind of like Madonna. Or Cher. Or like a kid who forgot she had a last name while thousands of people stared at her. She did great!

Good for her! That takes guts to stand up in front of a stadium like that.

Any reason why the Official Delaware Sports Team decided to let 100+ kids say their names and schools? Was every school in the state represented? I mean, it is a small state.

And remember, next time get advertising dollars from Happy Harry for all the eyeballs your blog post is giving him!

This has been going on for about a week. Schools from DE, MD, PA and NJ are part of the program. The Blue Rocks teamed up with IFS (nope - can't remember what it stands for) and created this program. The Blue Rocks do a lot of things for kids - the boy scouts and girl scouts were there, an elementary school choir sang the national anthem, a little league team took the field with the player, and so on. The sarcastic part of me thinks they do this so the parents of all the kids have to buy tickets. All in all it was a pleasant evening.
