The economy, international edition

I thought things were bad at home, but the Bahamas has been hit pretty hard. Between hurricanes and lack of tourists, prices are soaring here. While I would have paid $8 for a hamburger ($10 with cheese) last year, this year I can't even think about paying $12, $14 with cheese. We are calling this week a week of forced dieting - and to be honest, it wouldn't hurt any of us to shed some pounds.

This place is pretty empty, and some of our favorite places don't exist anymore. We're having a great time, don't get me wrong, but it is a little sad to see how things are right now.
